Paris, Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs

Louis-Alexandre Clicquot 1732,  François-Henri Clicquot 1772-76

State of preservation: parts of the case date back to the predecessor organ by Paul Maillard 1608-11 and Crépin Carlier 1632; pipes by the Clicquot unchanged. In 1926 renewal of action including expansion of compass, additions of Barker levers (for the GO) and  a swell by Victor Gonzalez. Smaller post war repairs by Philippe Hartmann.

Over the 18th century this organ was cared for by three generations of the Clicquot family who were members of this parish. Posterior fame as "the Clicquot organ“ kept it from severe changes during the 19th century. The romanticisation in 1926 left the sounding material unchanged, Among the organists active here were Claude Balbastre and also Louis Braille, inventor of the braille code and the braille music code.
