The company "Dieudonné & Schiedmayer" was founded in 1809 by Carl Wilhelm Friedrich Dieudonné (1782-1825) and Johann Lorenz Schiedmayer (1786-1860), who had met and become friends while working at Nanette Stein-Streicher. The company began its operations at Charlottenstraße 160 (now No. 4) and moved in 1821 to a newly built factory building on Neckarstraße (now Konrad-Adenauer-Straße). After the death of Carl Dieudonné, Schiedmayer continued to run the company on his own.
